Articles & Advertising

We welcome articles written for Turvey News, they could be about our village or village organisations, other items of local interest, recipes, jokes - use your imagination! Opinions expressed in Turvey News are those of the original contributors and are not necessarily shared by the team. We reserve the right to refuse to publish text submitted and to edit all material provided.

Writing guidelines

Please use the following guidelines when writing your article:

  • File Format: We prefer to receive articles electronically, written using Microsoft Word whenever possible - please try to avoid the use of PDFs because sometimes we have to edit articles or change the formatting to fit things in. We do, of course, welcome articles written by hand and will type them up for you.
  • Page Format: Use A4 page size with margins of 2-2.5cm and font size of minimum of Arial 12pt, Times New Roman 13pt or similar. Articles are reduced to A5 during the duplication process.
  • Images: Gone are the days when we could only print in black and white - we love including colourful images to illustrate your articles! If possible please also send us the original image file, as well as including it in your article, so that we can tweak it if necessary.
  • Article length: Recommended maximum length of one A4 page, although we realise this isn't always possible.

Information for Advertisers

To advertise in the next edition please email the team at turveynews@hotmail.com. The copy date for adverts is usually a week earlier than that for articles.

Magazine archive

We first made Turvey News available online in the summer of 2020 during the first COVID lockdown, because we weren’t sure whether it would be possible to get it printed and distributed. It proved to be a great success, so we've continued to publish the digital version, as well as print and deliver the paper copies. Most of the digital editions are available here, simply click the link below to read or download.
